The Complete CFI Binder Series ACS Compliance

At this time, The Complete CFI Binder Series complies with the most recent revision of the FAA Practical Test Standards (PTS). This is intentional, as the Airman Certification Test Standards have not yet been released for any of the CFI, CFII, or MEI courses. Moreover, the FAA doesn’t presently have a prototype available for the CFI, CFII, or MEI Flight Instructor Courses (as of Spring 2017) for aviation instructors to review. Therefore, we have not yet shifted our content in The Complete CFI Binder Series over to the Airman Certification Standards (ACS) because they simply don’t exist yet for any instructor courses. The FAA Practical Test Standards (PTS) are still being used for all Flight Instructor Courses.

Once the ACS is fully released for the CFI courses. We will modify all of our products to conform to the ACS.   As long as you’re enrolled in an update subscription (which is provided free for the first year), the update to your copy of The Complete CFI Binder Series would be free of charge. When the new ACS updates are completed, and a new copy of The Complete CFI Binder Series is made available, you simply download the update and bam! You now have a resource that conforms to the Airman Certification Standards. 

AIRMAN CERTIFICATION Standards (ACS)

Occasionally, we have prospective customers ask us about ACS. Once the FAA has released a final revision of the ACS for the CFI, CFII, and MEI Flight Instructor Courses, we will update The Complete CFI Binder Series to be current with the new testing standards. However, as of current (Spring 2017), Airman Certification Standards do not yet exist for any Flight Instructor Courses.  The Complete CFI Binder Series was specifically written to help current CFI, CFII, and MEI Applicants pass their Practical Examination under the current FAA testing standards.

THE BOTTOM LINE

The bottom line… You’ll still be tested and evaluated based on the current Practical Test Standards (PTS) and NOT the ACS, for your CFI, CFII, or MEI Practical. It doesn’t hurt to review the ACS though, as the moment that you become a certificated instructor, you’ll be expected to be familiar with the ACS for Private and Instrument Students.

THE MAIN DIFFERENCES

The ACS and PTS are both similar, yet different. In fact, the PTS is nearly identical to the ACS with the exception that you will not see scenario-based content in the PTS. The PTS and ACS in many cases share the EXACT same subject areas (line items in the PTS). The ACS presents the information in a more logical outline, which separates the task into different categories like; Knowledge Areas, Risk Management, and Skills. The ACS provides a more objective approach to testing standards over its predecessor, the PTS.
